'Obama violates 'no snooping on allies' vow, spying on Netanyahu and Congressmen'- Wall St. Journal

National Security Agency’s targeting of Israeli leaders also swept up the content of private conversations with U.S. lawmakers

from U.S. Spy Net on Israel Snares Congress by Adam Entous and Danny Yadron in Wall St. Journal, Dec 29, 2015

President Barack Obama announced two years ago he would curtail eavesdropping on friendly heads of state after the world learned the reach of long-secret U.S. surveillance programs.

But behind the scenes, the White House decided to keep certain allies under close watch, current and former U.S. officials said. Topping the list was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The U.S., pursuing a nuclear arms agreement with Iran at the time, captured communications between Mr. Netanyahu and his aides that inflamed mistrust between the two countries and planted a political minefield at home when Mr. Netanyahu later took his campaign against the deal to Capitol Hill.

The National Security Agency’s targeting of Israeli leaders and officials also swept up the contents of some of their private conversations with U.S. lawmakers and American-Jewish groups. That raised fears—an “Oh-s— moment,” one senior U.S. official said—that the executive branch would be accused of spying on Congress.

White House officials believed the intercepted information could be valuable to counter Mr. Netanyahu’s campaign. They also recognized that asking for it was politically risky. So, wary of a paper trail stemming from a request, the White House let the NSA decide what to share and what to withhold, officials said. “We didn’t say, ‘Do it,’ ” a senior U.S. official said. “We didn’t say, ‘Don’t do it.’ ”

Stepped-up NSA eavesdropping revealed to the White House how Mr. Netanyahu and his advisers had leaked details of the U.S.-Iran negotiations—learned through Israeli spying operations—to undermine the talks; coordinated talking points with Jewish-American groups against the deal; and asked undecided lawmakers what it would take to win their votes, according to current and former officials familiar with the intercepts.

Before former NSA contractor Edward Snowden exposed much of the agency’s spying operations in 2013, there was little worry in the administration about the monitoring of friendly heads of state because it was such a closely held secret. After the revelations and a White House review, Mr. Obama announced in a January 2014 speech he would curb such eavesdropping.

In closed-door debate, the Obama administration weighed which allied leaders belonged on a so-called protected list, shielding them from NSA snooping. French President François Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other North Atlantic Treaty Organization leaders made the list, but the administration permitted the NSA to target the leaders’ top advisers, current and former U.S. officials said. Other allies were excluded from the protected list, including Recep Tayyip Erdogan, president of NATO ally Turkey, which allowed the NSA to spy on their communications at the discretion of top officials.

Privately, Mr. Obama maintained the monitoring of Mr. Netanyahu on the grounds that it served a “compelling national security purpose,” according to current and former U.S. officials. Mr. Obama mentioned the exception in his speech but kept secret the leaders it would apply to.

Israeli, German and French government officials declined to comment on NSA activities. Turkish officials didn’t respond to requests Tuesday for comment. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the NSA declined to comment on communications provided to the White House.

This account, stretching over two terms of the Obama administration, is based on interviews with more than two dozen current and former U.S. intelligence and administration officials and reveals for the first time the extent of American spying on the Israeli prime minister.

The homegrown jihad lesson that the Muslim Lobby and Obama conceal

Muslim leader from CAIR tells CNN America bears some blame for terror attacks" Fox News, Dec 4

According to a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, America bears some of the blame for the bloody wave of Islamic extremism that has brought terrorism to San Bernardino, Paris and locations around the world.

In a Friday CNN interview, Hussam Ayloush, of the group’s Los Angeles chapter, said American foreign policy has helped fuel the rage that drives Muslim radicals to kill in the name of their faith.

“Let’s not forget that some of our own foreign policy, as Americans, as the west, have fueled that extremism,” Ayloush told “New Day” host Chris Cuomo during a discussion about Wednesday’s terrorist attack in San Bernardino, Calif., where a Muslim married couple killed 14 and wounded 21 at a holiday party for the county health department that employed the husband, Syed Rizwan Farook.

The San Bernardino Terrorists Weren't Radicals - They Were Mainstream
A huge tiny minority of extremists by Daniel Greenfield in FrontPage Magazine

After Tashfeen Malik and Syed Farook killed 14 Americans in their corner of the Jihad over in San Bernardino, the media began its long laborious search for their moment of “radicalization”.
Tashfeen Malik and Syed Farook injured 22 and killed 14
The assumption that the intersection of terrorism and Islam can only be an aberration lead to the conviction that there was some moment in time at which Malik and Farook became “radical extremists”. . .

But what if Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik were never “radicalized”? What if neither of them “influenced” the other? What if both were exactly what they appear to be, devout Muslims who hated America and believed that it was their religious duty to kill Americans? What if this attitude did not show up last week or last year? What if it was the way that their culture and religion taught them to live? Read more:

Obama does not even care about appearances when it comes to Islam and protecting Muslim sensitivities. It is not just Americans who are left wondering why Obama appears more concerned about the reputation of Islam than the reputation of America. But many around the world, including Muslims in the Middle East, are wondering about Obama’s loyalties and priorities.

(In this exclusive video interview, author Nonie Darwish tells DemoCast why she feels authorities are incorrect to characterize the matter as "radicalized Islamist terrorism)."

Having been born and raised in a Muslim culture, I have little doubt that the Muslim leaders Loretta Lynch met with asked her not to show the photo of the Muslim female terrorist. Their explanation for keeping the photo away from the public eye was probably because they claimed that showing a photo of a veiled Muslim terrorist who was also a new immigrant would inflame Americans against veiled Muslim women.  Read the full article on: http://pamelageller.com

9/11 Mayor Giuliani & NYPD's Kerik validate Trump claim- NY Muslims were seen rejoicing publicly; How many were privately? Plus, Israeli van-dancers exonerated

Muslim crowd rejoices on 9/11 in Palestinian-ruled Gaza
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani validates Donald Trump's claims that Muslims in America cheered on 9/11

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani acknowledged on CNN today that there was some celebrating by American Muslims in New York on Sept. 11, 2001.

"We did have some celebrating, that is true," Giuliani told CNN's Alisyn Camerota on CNN's "New Day." "We had pockets of celebration some in Queens, some in Brooklyn -- 10, 12, 30, 40" people." Camerota attempted to invalidate Mr. Trump's claims based on the quantity dispute, not the point that some Muslims in America did and do support jihad to convert and conquer America.

Rudy Giuliani: Some New York Muslims celebrated 9/11, but Donald Trump 'exaggerating' by Tom LoBianco, CNN, Tue December 1, 2015Watch video from CNN:

Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump in happy days
Though many New Jersey-ites have confirmed seeing NY/NJ Muslim celebrations for the jihadist attacks of Sept 11, 2001, Donald Trump's exaggerated "thousands" may be his memory conflating news photos and video of hundreds of Muslim celebrants around the world (notably among Palestinian and Iraqi Muslims) combined with the reports of millions of Muslims in the world supportive of the attacks against America.

Here is a long list of surveys showing levels of Muslim support for control over the west via jihad and terror against non-Muslims.

36% of Muslims believe 9/11 attacks "morally justified
Al-Arabiya Poll
That "tiny percentage of radical Muslims" again in Elder of Ziyon May 8, 2008
In a new article by Robert Satloff, (Just Like Us! Really? in Weekly Standard 5/12/2008, he blows a few more holes into the book - but he also gets a hold of the all-important data: how many Muslims mostly or partially justified 9/11?

The answers are not quite as comforting as the authors implied. In addition to the 6.5% who felt that 9/11 was "mostly" justified, we find out:

The cover-up is even worse. The full data from the 9/11 question show that, in addition to the 13.5 percent, there is another 23.1 percent of respondents -- 300 million Muslims -- who told pollsters the attacks were in some way justified. Esposito and Mogahed don't utter a word about the vast sea of intolerance in which the radicals operate.

And then there is the more fundamental fraud of using the 9/11 question as the measure of "who is a radical." Amazing as it sounds, according to Esposito and Mogahed, the proper term for a Muslim who hates America, wants to impose Sharia law, supports suicide bombing, and opposes equal rights for women but does not "completely" justify 9/11 is . . . "moderate."

So over one out of every three Muslims worldwide, 36.6%, can find some justification for 9/11; and about 80% of those were defined as "moderate" in this book.

Which means that there are nearly a half-billion Muslims worldwide who would be considered supporters of terror by any reasonable definition, not "only" the 91 million that the authors claim.

This is consistent with other polls over the same time period, notably the Pew Global Attitudes Project which has found declining but still significant support for suicide bombings among Muslims in various countries - 70% in Palestinian Arab territories, 31% in Lebanon, "only" 8% in Egypt.
One America News reports that former NYC Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik also confirmed public celebrations in Muslim neighborhoods throughout the NY/NJ metro area. Combined with the global celebrations, he said, the Muslims cheering the overthrow of America clearly qualified as Trump's figurative thousands.

As long as many Muslims inside America inwardly support jihadist terrorism to conquer America, how much difference does it make how many celebrated 9/11 jihad attacks America outwardly?

Were Israelis detained on 9/11 spies?

A rumor which persists, among the "9/11 Truthers" is that a group of Israeli laborers who were jocular while observing the World Trade Center disaster from New Jersey - suspected of celebrating their handiwork in the collapse of the buildings. ABC News' 20/20 report says that while individuals in the group may have contributed intelligence to Israel, after lengthy US detentions and investigation- it was determined that none of them had foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks.

The FBI told ABC NEWS, "To date, this investigation has not identified anybody who in this country had pre-knowledge of the events of 9/11."
Sources also said that even if the men were spies, there is no evidence to conclude they had advance knowledge of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11. The investigation, at the end of the day, after all the polygraphs, all of the field work, all the cross-checking, the intelligence work, concluded that they probably did not have advance knowledge of 9/11," Cannistraro noted.
As to what they were doing on the van, they say they read about the attack on the Internet, couldn't see it from their offices and went to the parking lot for a better view. But no one has been able to find a good explanation for why they may have been smiling with the towers of the World Trade Center burning in the background. Both the lawyers for the young men and the Israeli Embassy chalk it up to immature conduct.
